Let me introduce myself first…

On March 12, 2020, the Government of Maldives declared a Public Health Emergency for the first time due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Initially set for 30 days, this led to several precautionary measures. Just a week later, on March 17, the President ordered the closure of all government offices, including schools and universities, for two weeks starting March 19.

At the time, I was working as a temporary staff member at the Election Commission in preparation for the upcoming election. However, due to the pandemic, both the government and opposition pushed for its postponement. As a result, all temporary staff, including myself, were dismissed on March 17.

I’m a 27-year-old law graduate and entrepreneur from the Maldives. Studying law was my childhood ambition, while my interest in business started later when a friend and I launched an online boutique. The business thrived until my friend got married and moved to another island. Meanwhile, I became too busy with work and studies to manage it alone.

This blog was originally created to promote our business, but I never had enough time to focus on it. Now, with the pandemic bringing unexpected changes and leaving me unemployed, I’ve been looking for something meaningful to do. That’s when an idea struck me—I realized I could finally dedicate time to this blog.

So, here I am, starting a new journey! I’d love to hear from you as well—feel free to share your story in the comments.

Thanks for stopping by!

Good company in a journey makes the way seem shorter. — Izaak Walton
